In the early 1990s, Mr. Woods, with the Lohort Castle as inspiration, set out to make his dream a reality when he purchased five acres of swamp in Palm Beach County, brought his dogs, set up a tent, and got to work. Calling it a “labor of love,” Mr. Woods lived on the property and spent over 30 years laboring in the woods to build his 4-bedroom, 4,500 square-foot Irish castle and pond. With the help of an architect, Mr. Woods built the castle himself, brick by brick. Mr. Woods built the Castle with his bare hands and didn’t sub any of the work. The rest is history.
In 2022, the Castle of Wellington went up on the market and it caught the attention of businessman, Aldo and Lorri. With a passion for real estate and architecture, had a different vision for the castle, Mr. Disorbo wanted to create a home for his Queen.
However, Mr. Disorbo admired and respected Mr. Woods’s passion for the castle and therefore decided to expand on the existing construction to preserve Mr. Wood’s legacy. With renovations scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2025, the new Castle of Wellington will boast 25,000 square feet within the castle’s four turrets, 12,000 square feet under air, 7 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, dining room, kitchen, and much more.
